TEDx Wandsworth

I've been privileged to have gained both IT & strategic marketing expertise at Deloitte where professional ethics, business acumen and rigorous accounting are essential requirements, and with a touch of motivational flair at Havas for fun, I'm aware I'm lifting my clients brand value.  It's because of this that I encourage others to learn more and aim higher too.

All around us there are many opportunities left struggling or unrealised, usually down to a lack of ambition, key skills or the people to deliver them.

The evidence is clear in the words of the award winning Mark Ritson when he says Marketing is neither intuitive nor obvious, adding the same to my other core skill of IT, and having worked with some of the brightest and best know this is true for them too.

Take for example these micro-moments. Just as on a first date, first impressions matter. After eye contact and a warm smile, a business card reinforces your brand and adds a visual hook to remember you by. Understanding what happens next is essential to ensuring this aide-mémoire delivers your intellectual message as clearly as that initial emotional one ensuring they still want to do business.

For example when using Challenger Sales, is the next step clear and easy, does your card lead to your web presence and your solution. In the cold light of day, have you left them with enough trails for them to get back in touch. Integrating the process leads to more and better sales.

So if we have great abilities and the opportunities are there, how can we achieve more?

These TEDx talks are offering far more than any individual, so when Kalpana Chauhan approached me I felt compelled to support TEDx Wandsworth as even in our vibrant London Boroughs, everyone with an idea worth spreading deserves every help we can offer in today's fast paced, short attention span world to share our passion, ideas and abilities, and extend our network of friends who can help change the world around us.

With visibility key to the successful first steps of any venture, and networking with people who share our ideals close behind, so with the fantastic ideas and the people behind them these TEDx talks are where the adventures begin.

These TEDx presentations are just the start of the journeys for our next entrepreneurs, so thank you South Thames College for hosting TEDx Wandsworth, thank you Amman Abid and the whole team of volunteers for your drive and energy in making this happen, thank you to the inspirational speakers, and above all a big thanks to the audience and everyone with Ideas Worth Spreading and wanting to Be The Change, I wish you every success.

Thank you,
Alan Hicks
